Makeup Expiration Date

Makeup
Did you know that your makeup has an expiration date?  Yep, it sure does!  Cosmetics aren’t required by law to have expiration dates printed on them so you can’t just look at the label to know when they’ve expired.  No wonder I still have eye shadows that I use to use back in high school! I know I’m not the only one holding on to makeup for longer then it’s shelf life.

Expired makeup may be full of more than just powder; they could be harboring dangerous bacteria Continue reading

Swirl, Tap and Buff

A little over a year ago, my hubby got me the bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals’ Get Started Kit for my birthday. And that’s when my love affair with the brand began. The bareMinerals kits have slightly changed in the past year and it looks like they include more product in the new kit, but in mine the following was included:

-2 shades of bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation (medium and medium beige)
-Mineral Veil finishing powder
-Warmth All-Over Face Color
-Glee All-Over Face Color
-Flawless Application Brush
-Buki Brush
-Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush

Bare Escentuals introduced the bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation first, which started the mineral makeup revolution. It’s made out of 100% pure Minerals, it’s free of preservatives, oil, fragrance, talc and other skin irritants. What makes this particular foundation more special then other mineral foundations is although it looks like a powder, it feels like a weightless creamy texture once you apply it. It buffs on the skin like silk, gives full flawless coverage and gives the skin a natural luminosity that stays all day. It also acts as a concealer when you use the Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush! And that’s just the foundation!

The Warmth and Glee all-over face color gives you a healthy radiant glow. I use these as my bronzers. The Mineral Veil is a translucent powder that adds a perfect finishing touch. When I use my bareMinerals, my skin looks even toned and flawless. It’s super easy to apply, just swirl, tap and buff and the results always turn out perfect!

The brand now offers a ton more product that I have not tried yet, but I would definitely recommend getting the starter kit. A year later I’ve already had to restock on more Foundation and Mineral Veil.

BareMinerals are highly luscious!

Killer Lashes for Less!!

At my wedding this past October, I wanted my make up to look perfect! I played around with the idea of getting false eyelashes applied professionally, but I was worried about them falling off during the ceremony in an embarassing moment. The morning of the big day, I talked to the make up artist and she assured me the lashes would stay on all day, so I moved forward with getting them applied.

It was a great decision on my part! The lashes looked flawless and I was amazed at the difference it made to the appearance of my eyes. I actually became slightly obsessesed..LOL. I washed my face SO carefully the next day so my lashes would remain intact and THEY DID! I didn’t even wear make up the entire next day, but the lashes gave the illusion that I was wearing make up. Here is a pic of me in August with just eyeshadow, mascara and my natural lashes . The picture on the right is from October with NO make up (but more tan) and false lashes.

When my false lashes finally came off after 5 days, I already couldn’t wait to the next time I could get them applied. I got the lashes applied for $30 at Mario Tricoci Salon for my wedding, and I realized I could not afford to get them done weekly or even once a month. I decided to do some research on my own. I was shopping at Target and Continue reading

Ebay Buyers BEWARE!!!

macIf you have read my previous Crease No More post, you would know I am on a mission to revamp my makeup collection. And one of the brands I want to invest in is MAC. This is one of the best cosmetic brands used by makeup artists and if you have anything MAC you would know why.

maclipstickglossFor example I absolutely love their Lipglass. I’ve had a few here and there over the years, and while trying other brands, I’ve always returned to using MAC. Not only are the colors fabulous, the gloss stays on forever! I recently just purchased the Viva Glam Lipglass, with the Angel Lipstick at the MAC store along with the Paint Pot. I apply the lipstick first, and finish off with the gloss. The combination gives me the perfect tint that I love.

So being the shopper-on-a-budget that I am, I decided to check out Ebay for additional cosmetic necessities, such as brushes and eye shadows. I’m a confident Ebay shopper, I have purchased and sold several things and have never had a problem in the 6 years I’ve been an “ebayer”. I always check out a seller’s feedback, and only purchase from people who have great feedback.

ebay1 is swarming with MAC products. I spent days placing items on watch and seeing how much they were going for. I couldn’t believe the great deals, and Continue reading

Crease No More

One of my New Years Resolutions is to revamp my entire makeup collection and I decided that this year I would invest in high quality brands.

mac_263x3872One of my first purchases towards the revamping of my makeup collection was the Paint Pot from MAC that I now completely swear by!  The MAC Paint Pots are highly pigmented, longwearing cream-based eye shadows. They blend on smooth and creamy, and then set to a crease-proof finish. They are used as a base on the eyelids before applying your eye shadows. By using the Paint Pot as the base, prevents the eye shadow from creasing on your eyelids. And I don’t know about you, but after a few hours of having makeup on, my eye shadow always creased and faded. And not only does it prevent the creasing, it makes your eye shadow last all day long!

Paint Pots are only $16.50 for 0.17 fl oz. jar, and I use the Painterly color. The MAC website says to apply with MAC Brush #217 but I just use my ring finger to apply.

Mac Paint Pots are highly luscious! Go out and get some and see for your self!
