Key Pieces to Your Wardrobe

Jeggings & Pajama Jeans (Fashion or Faux Pas?)

Is it even believable that you can wear jeans and have the same comfort you would if you were wearing sweatpants?  The new craze on the news and internet is Pajama Jeans.  According to the official website, Pajama Jeans: “look like denim….but feel like PJ’s.” During my research for this blog, I have yet to find a celebrity photoed in the web-popular PJ Jeans; which leads me to believe this may be a fashion faux pas. I wouldn’t knock anyone if they wanted to try them though.  I am a fan of anything comfy, but I am anti-expanding waistlines.  I stand by a theory I came up with when I was a sophomore in highschool, “If you buy bigger pants for yourself, you will eventually grow into them.” Its a pretty blunt theory and is totally based upon my mediocre intelligence. If you buy a size 6 pair of pants and you are size 2, you will eventually be a size 6. Call me crazy, loopy or dumb, but when I could fit into a size 3 Freshman year I would stay conscious of fitting into them, when the “baggy jean” style was in I got 2 sizes to big and it took a year to fit into them.

This brings me to my next denim counterfeit product:  Jeggings are the farthest thing from “cheesy” and they’ve been on legs since late 2009 and don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.   In my opinion, the more realistic your jeggings are to real jeans, the better!  I realize for those of us who aren’t as small as Taylor Swift may be weary of these, but let me tell you: You can rock them! If I can, you can. You can find these at Old Navy for as little as $4.00 (on clearance) a pair. You may as well give it a shot. My new favorite jeggings are in gray pictured below.  I match it with a long black tank & cardigan & black knee high motorcyle boots.  A very cute look!

Hey! Hey! Hey! Zumba!

8 months after having my 1st child, I am actually at the same weight I was when I was 8 months pregnant. I wish the lbs. would’ve melted off right after having my baby girl, but I actually ended up gaining more weight after Reese Marie was born.  It has been a constant struggle to eat right and work out.  I am sick of the same old 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the treadmill and it wasn’t doing anything!! My friend a co-blogger on this site: Fabiola introduced me to Zumba at our gym: XSport Fitness in Arlington Heights.  Zumba is a high impact, intense cardio 1 hour workout that burns calories like crazy.  It is the best cardio workout I have done in a long time and the weight I gained during pregnancy is finally starting to shed.  While Zumba is high impact it is the most fun exercise I have tried in a long time. The word Zumba actually translate in Spanish to: “to move fast and have fun” I strongly urge you to visit your local gym/fitness center to see if they offer this class. You can also check out the official Zumba webpage for more information.  I love, love, love this class and I can’t wait to post my results on my weight loss goal of 50lbs!!

ETSY here I come!

logoFor those of you who are not familiar, Etsy is this incredibly cool site that enables people to sell handmade things. You can find anything from pottery, jewelery, paintings, or clothes, to tutus for children. The sellers are creative individuals who are trying to make a living doing what they love, from stay-at-home-moms, to up and coming fashion designers. You can find absolutely anything and everything, and it’s different and unique. There are some talented people out there!

So I decided to have a crack at it. Check out my own personal boutique at www.karinasboutique.etsy.com where I offer Invites for every occasion. Showers, birthdays, announcements, ext. I have only a couple up, but stay tuned cause a lot more is coming!

In Memory..Michael Jackson

I had to post a memorial about the King of Pop-Michael Jackson.  He was a musical genius and he changed my life from the moment my older sister got the “BAD” album when I was just 6 years old.  The more MJ I heard, the more I liked.   I rock to “Thriller” every Halloween and I danced at my wedding to “P.Y.T.”  My husband laughs at me to this day for the look on my face in a pic, when I got the  “Black or White” cassette tape on Xmas.  A lot of memories stay with me through music and my life would not be the same without Mr. Michael Jackson.

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson!

Find a Cause…..

A goal of mine since 2005 has been to walk or volunteer for a cause. There are people out there who need money raised for rehabilitation and/or research for their illness or disability. I’ve learned to be extremly thankful for where I am today. You do not have to be rich or a celebrity to do good for others. I have participated in 2 fundraisers in the last year and each fundraiser was successful, fun and for a very worthy cause.

On Sunday, May 3, 2009 I joined more than 16,000 walkers and volunteers across Illinois in the Walk MS 2009. The money raised at the Walk MS 2009 supports programs, services and vital research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis.

It was such a rewarding experience. When I was first asked to pick a goal of how much I thought I could raise, I entered $200 Continue reading

You Are What You Eat – I’ll Have a Supersize of Youth

787671331Like most women, I am always seeking a way to preserve my youth. I am 28 years old, and I still don’t have many wrinkles, but I know they are around the corner and I will do everything in my power to slow down the aging process. Well maybe not everything…

I have been using anti-aging eye cream since I was 18, lotioning up my face and body every day since I can remember, using spf on my face even though I must admit tanning is my down fall. Has it worked? Who knows, I guess it’s too early to tell, but that will not stop me from taking precaution in the hopes that I look youthful as long as possible. Continue reading

Facebook-Mania

With more then 200 MILLION active users, Facebook is sweeping the nation. My college aged cousins introduced me to Facebook about 2 1/2 years ago. I had a myspace and still do, but when I started on Facebook it was more appealing (for some reason or other) to keep in touch with people. Now that I have had a facebook for some time, there are some questions I have to ask:

The Sex Talk

I’m a huge fan of Oprah and watch her show regularly. Last week she did two shows on having the Sex Talk with your kids. I have a 17 months old daughter, and although she’s too young for this talk, my ears perk up and I take mental notes for the future. Dr. Laura Berman, a sex therapist that actually used to be a regular on Eddie & JoBo morning show on B96 (Chicago’s local radio station), was now on Oprah talking about how to have the conversation with your son or daughter. Pum Pum Cleanliness..

pin-up-cleaning1-204x300So we already went over pum pum maintenance back in February, sorry I left ya’ll hanging this long!  Hopefully your pum pum is maintained, but much more important then maintenance is the cleanliness of your pum pum!

This is no joke people and I guess no one really talks about it; however a guy friend of mine (we’ll call him John to protect his identity), told me about an ex of his that had a stinky pum pum.  I know it sounds terrible and disturbing, but John being the forward man he is went out and bought his women powders, soaps and douches to help solve the problem.   Did they help??  The answer is “NO” they didn’t help per John.  What could it be then??  Lets take a look at a couple things every woman should & should NOT be doing to avoid such a dreadful condition of pum pum stink.
