Oh no JLO, NO!!!! Why did you have to go there? The curvy fashionista has commited a big NO NO… in my eyes at least. Here she was snapped in an airport in Tokyo Japan, sporting the new fad in fashion, the Harem pants. This style was, to my dismay, all over runways at New York Fashion Week.

You Can’t Change Him or Her…

My ex brought out the worst in me. In his defense, I was also a nut-job when I dated him. I was insecure and brought out the worst in him too. We weren’t right for each other, but we still spent 5 years trying to change each other. Towards the end of our relationship, it just wasn’t there anymore. Not only was I growing up, but it was an “a-ha” moment for me (Oprah reference). The ex was not the person who I was supposed to end up with….and it wasn’t because he was mean or a jerk; it was because I couldn’t change him and he couldn’t change me.We weren’t ourselves with each other, we didn’t like who the other person was. It sounds harsh, but I didn’t think he was evil or anything. Granted, we went through some pretty f-ed up times and he hurt me a lot (and I hurt him too). I think, looking back….that we were both responsible for those times. We were young…and when it was all said and done, I learned a great lesson.

I spent 5 years with someone during an important time of growth. From 15-20 years old, I was hiding the real me to please someone else.   I ditched out on girls night out, family time, highschool activities, concerts, dating other boys because

Makeup Expiration Date

Did you know that your makeup has an expiration date?  Yep, it sure does!  Cosmetics aren’t required by law to have expiration dates printed on them so you can’t just look at the label to know when they’ve expired.  No wonder I still have eye shadows that I use to use back in high school! I know I’m not the only one holding on to makeup for longer then it’s shelf life.

Expired makeup may be full of more than just powder; they could be harboring dangerous bacteria

Breast self-exam 101

As young women we are thrown into womanhood with lots to learn. I recently went in for my annual pep and was really put to the test by my doctor on breast self-examination. Good thing I regularly do BSE’s and passed the pop quiz. She recommended I do this monthly right after my cycle was finished. I wanted to share with you this article I found very informative and helpful on learning about the girls. As breast cancer runs in my family I take BSE’s very seriously and it’s a great way to know my girls. I recommend on doing the same and get to know your girls!

Shoe Trend Alert

For the past week or so I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect pair of shoes. I wanted an open toe bootie to welcome in the warmer weather that has been approaching. I was looking for something specific, nothing too high, comfortable, something I can dress up for a night out on the town, or dress down with a pair of jeans. As I was window shopping online I fell in love with Madden Girl Platform Booties on the DSW website. I love the slouchy front, the thicker heal and the platform front.

After going to all the DSWs (the store didn’t carry this shoe), Marshalls and TJ Max in my area looking for something similar, I didn’t really find anything that suited me. DSW has some great shoes on sale though, I found a pair of Michael Kors heels that were marked down 70%! Although they were so fierce, it was still not what I was looking for.

In the end I decided to just order directly from the DSW website the Madden pair that initially caught my eye.

But, while on this mission for the perfect shoe I noticed

SUPER-SIZE SHOULDERS

Call it a comeback, shoulder pads are back! If you like it or not the shoulder pad attack is coming in full force this year. They are being stuck everywhere from evening dresses to power suits. The shoulder pads made famous in the 80s have been spotted everywhere in Fashion week. The look isn’t as scary as one might think and can be a good style solution for the pear-shaped figure if paired with a dark, slim lower half.
